Those who stay close to the Oceans
I had always been dreaming about living the life as an islander, and very luckily, I got the time and freedom to move to an island for a few months, so I went.
I started my diving life there with so many interesting people from different backgrounds and all over the world. We dived, talked, laughed, drove in rains, got drunk and jumped into the water.
Over time I started to hear one story pattern again and again: "I came here for a holiday and fell in love with diving and life here, so I moved here".
I mean, not that I didn't like the lifestyle, but completely moving to an island where I have to experience eletricity shortage on a daily basis? I was still very doubtful and wondered what made them make the decision.
My curiosity peaked after meeting a few technical divers, HERO technical divers I have to say, who dived into the Tham Luang Nang Non in 2018 and saved 13 people from a life threatening situation.
I was again extremely lucky that not long after meeting them, I had the opportunity to dive with them in search of a night ferry that had sunk accidentally due to a very strong storm. By talking and getting to know them, I tried to find an answer to my question:
"What made them move across half of the planet to settle down on an isolated island?"
Well, just like my reader you right now, I hope I had found an answer to my question, but sadly I didn't.
However, I do have some stories on all those who stay close to Oceans to tell, enjoy reading.
